Might be looking into thunderheaders for myself. Not to crazy about the looks of the 2-1 pipes but the whole idea is for performance right? As for ACM their only about 45 minutes from me and have had problems with them saying parts are in stock only to get there and find out that the parts I ordered are at a different warehouse.
thunderheader is a different sound not loud but has that ?? megaphone kinda sound to me.... i prefer the old school sound the "thump thump" however i can tell you that the performance is different basically a 2 into 1 will put your powerband at a lower RPM kinda the difference of HP and Torque i didnt lose anything i just got longer gears by going to the 2-2 lol 2-1 makes bike alot more chirpy off the throttle either way im still eatin those 96" up!
Yeah, the performance gains of these thunder headers makes it very much worth it. I love them. They sound really good. Not loud, but when you open that throttle, they crank! I wasn't crazy about the 2-1 look either, but it grows on ya. I love them.
Ive read lot of bad things about American Classic Motors, but ive got allot of stuff from them and had no problems ( finger crossed LOL )
Good luck with your search for a cheap thunder header on ebay , Ill be bidding against ya lol :-P
Well there's 3 with good experiences...

Yeah, that's what concerns me...every bad story I've heard about ACM was the "it's been X weeks and I still don't have my ****!"
I guess I'll keep looking. I'm figuring on waiting til the Bob's had its 1k mile maintenance anyway (it's at 750), so I've got a little bit til I have to pull on anything. I've always liked (and heard good things about) the Thunderheader sound...I'm always intrigued when someone says it either didn't sound right, or wasn't loud enough, because I've always been under the impression that they're damn noise cannons.
At first I loved the look of V&H BR 2-2's...then I realized that everyone had them, and a lot of custom choppers have a similar look. I've taken them as a fad of sorts, and at the same time the 2-1 look really grew on me.
Bought my chrome Thunderheader from gopartsdirect.com for $598 shipped. This included the heat shields. Chroming is average, but not bad. Sound is still loud and the performance appeared to be very good. I have an Evo, cams and SE heads and raced my buddy on his Nighttrain. First 2 gears we were even and then pulled away in 3rd and after.

No problems with shipping and was fairly fast.
When was this? It says that no website is configured at that address now.
I am really looking hard at the V&H Big Radius 2-1. Does it have the same performace gains of the other 2-1s, cause it looks much nicer than most. RB Racing also has some decent looking variants as well.
