Where have you guys gotten yours? I'm gonna be getting a set of black ones in the near future...not too many on eBay really, except from American Classic Motors, and I've heard a lot of bad stuff about them here.

 

Hmmm... well, to be honest, I got mine off Ebay. I was just patient and finally a set of used pipes came up and I jumped on them. They started out chrome, along with the heat shields, but I blacked them out myself.

I doubt that you'll find a set of black ones on ebay, but I'm sure if your patient enough, you'll get what you need. And my black pipes are holding up VERY well...from what I've read about the ceramic coating on the black thunder headers is that it sucks, so I don't know.. I'm very happy with my results

 

American Classic Motors has done alright by me.

 

Same here, have no qualms buying from them.

 

Ive read lot of bad things about American Classic Motors, but ive got allot of stuff from them and had no problems ( finger crossed LOL )
Good luck with your search for a cheap thunder header on ebay , Ill be bidding against ya lol :-P

I've been contemplating buying a set from ACM myself and on ebay it shows they have 5 in stock. I think before I placed my order I'd verify with them via the telephone first. If they show 5 in stock, then it should ship THAT day if it's early enough. I won't put up with this waiting 2 weeks to get the part from the mfg. then another 2 weeks while it ships usps.

 

i just removed my chrome thunderheader and replaced it with V&H Straightshots definiatly not for the performance lol but the true Harley sound!! Now the Thunderheader which cost me $500 is hanging from the garage rafter!! Thinking bout puttin on ebay?? Kinda hate to sell it though EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!

 

I canned mine also. Didn't like the look or the sound. V & H with Big City Thunder baffles was the ticket for me...

 

I've been wanting a set of TH...too bad yours are for a 79 or we might could strike up a deal.

 

Cheapest I found was parts direct, but I heard they shut down, not sure? As for ACM, I got screwed just the way sclonghairbadboy explained so f*** them! Keep lookin, you'll find a good deal somewhere. Don't settle for anything else, you'll regret it!
