hello all, most of us change the oil on time keep the bike clean and well maintained but there comes a time when the bikes just worn out requiring engine rebuild. how many miles do you think your bike should be able to go before coming to this. i was talking to a guy who has covered 90 odd thousand miles on his 80s harley with no major issues. what do you think thanks

I have talked with several people who have more than 100K miles with no major issues. I think it depends upon three things: 1) the way you use the throttle. 2) the number of oil changes. 3) the way the stars come together when it was built.

I will be disapointed if I dont get a hundred thousand miles from my 07 FXD before it needs any major engine or transmission work. Like anything mechanical though, how well I look after it will have a fair bit to do with how long before it's ****ed.
