They will be lay'n on top of the final drive belt right up next to the front pulley . I know i have done this atleast 7 or eight times through the years and they always end up there. If youhave a jack or a long legged friend hold the bike upright and with a good small flash light you can look under the left side under the belt and look forword and see them. Magnet them out.
Hey guys, while putting my sideshots back on I dropped two nuts. I was struggling trying to get the upper nut on the back cylinder. After dropping the first one, I should have got up, and came back later cause it was pissin me off. But no, I tried again with a different nut, and well, like I said above, I dropped two nuts Anyway, they did not hit the ground. I think they fell down on the primary side in that cavity were the shifter lever is. If I left them would they maybe just fall out? or could cause some damge down there?
I've did this myself but only once and I learnt my lesson. I tried with the magnet and couldn't find it. I fired up the air compressor and was able to blow it out. But from now on I lay a towel or a large rag over the motor and trans that way if it drops it lands in the towel and it's very easy to get.

Good luck, Donnie
The rag is a great idea, and I started doing that after dropping one of the rear tank mounting aluminum flange washers down in there. If you've got a compressor have at it.
Well, all is back together now. I found one of them, funny thing is I spotted it as I was walking up to the bike. And get this, there is a rubber hose just in front of where you add oil, the nut was on top of that hose. Don't know how I did'nt see it last night. No luck on the other one. I looked all over for it. I jacked the bike up and spun the rear wheel. Nothing clanking around, and no binding. I even leaned the bike over, almost laying it down to see if I heard it, or maybe it would fall out. Nothing. Oh well, maybe it fell out and rolled to the next county! Who knows. Anyway, thanks for all the input. Much appreciated!

You finally dropped 2 nuts. Congratulations. I dropped 2 nuts when I was 11 or 12. But now you say the 2 nuts are lost. Good luck finding them. I keep mine in a protective bag......
