Default Goofed up while installing pipes

Hey guys, while putting my sideshots back on I dropped two nuts. I was struggling trying to get the upper nut on the back cylinder. After dropping the first one, I should have got up, and came back later cause it was pissin me off. But no, I tried again with a different nut, and well, like I said above, I dropped two nuts Anyway, they did not hit the ground. I think they fell down on the primary side in that cavity were the shifter lever is. If I left them would they maybe just fall out? or could cause some damge down there?

You remember you are on two wheels...right. I wouldn't ride it until I found the nuts. I have DONE THE SAME EXACT THING, so you aren't alone there, or with the frustration. I have a magnet rod just for things like this. If you don't have one, go to Sears and pick one up. It will save you some more frustration and cut fingers trying to dig your way through there. It will also allow you to look where you NEVER would try, thinking they could have haver gotten to where ever they are - and you KNOW that is where they are going to end up being. Good luck and have patience while finding them. The last thing you want to do is wedge one in between the gear and the belt and have to pull the whole thing apart since you didn't have the right tool for the job - a magnet - and used a screwdriver or something that just helps you wedge it deeper!!!
Ahhhhhhh the joys of doing our own maintainance sometimes!!!

you i would suggest fishing around with a magnet, like SiK said.

if you aint got a magnet or a mirror. go to sears and they have a magnet mirror combo. the mirror part magnatises to the magnet, 1 tool 2 jobs. plus the mirror may help locate the nuts, then go in after them with the magnet. dont fret, you'll find em.

I did the same, never found it.
The good news is it cant get into the primary, its doubtful it will hurt anything.
You can jack it up and rotate the rear wheel to make sure its not hanging in the belt.

Do what you can to find it. If you are unable to find it, do not beat yourself up over it. Because you are not sure it is still on the bike, right? Well I have done this before, more than once, and it will not be the last time. Yes it does suck, yes it is frustrating, but do not feel worse if you do not find the nut.
If it is on the bike and falls off, so be it. Yes, I understand that it could fly up, land on the spoket and get into your belt, but think of this, a rock can do the same thing. It is a small round nut, for all intense purposes, you should be fine.
Good luck finding it, hope you got it back running.

I have done the same several times. I have a telescoping magnet and was still unable to locate it so I left it. No problems yet. Rule of thumb is to have several extra flange bolts while installing exhaust. It is always the rear pipe too!
