are these for oil cooler

looking at the plugs on my oil filter mount.. can these be used for an oil cooler hookup?

I know this is an old thread, but anyone know what these are for? Are they just bolts/plugs?

i was told they are called casting plugs... only there for something to do with when the case was cast... they wont work for an oil cooler...

First, if you take the filter off, you should be able to see inside if they will route properly for an oil cooler to be attached to them.

Second, if you buy an oil cooler, it will come with an adapter and you wont have to worry about those openings anyway.

You can hook an oil cooler to those but the oil flow would be bypassing the filter. Probably not a good idea.

Thanks Superfast. Reason I was asking is that it looks like there might be a little seepage coming from one of the bolts on mine, I hit it with some brake cleaner so Ill see if it comes back.
