Default 06 dyna service manual owners

hello,can you check wether the heads have to come off to check valve clearance from top of piston to valve's for 06 SE203 or any race cam installation for that matter.cheers.still waiting for my manual to come in.My dealer says you dont have to remove heads.

You can measure the valve clearance without removing the heads.

You put the piston at top dead center. Remove the valve spring and measure the travel of the valve stem.

hello wlbowers,with the instruction that came with the cams it states you must remove heads ,apply a thickness of clay to the top of the piston,reassemble heads to torque do two complete revolutions of motor by hand then remove heads and measure thickness of clay for clearence.grind valves if need be.

If the manufacturer wants you to do it with clay, then thats what I would do.

thanx guys.the heads only have to come off if u r installing high lift cams.SE203 being very mild cam does not need valve clearance checked,stock pushrods etc.Looks like we r all correct.
