Default Handlebars

I have a 2009 FXD and hate the stock handlebars...they have me leaning to far forward. I would rather not go with a pull back riser because I have the stock speedometer which is part of the handlebar clamp. Just need something where the grips come back towards me a bit more so I am sitting more up right. Anyone solved this problem yet??

Thanks!

Apes are a good way to go as they can be adjusted forward or back more than any other bars. Beach bars might be another option, but look for something with more pull back.
How much further back do you want to go?

they makes bars in just about any pull back you would desire... check out j&p or bar manufactures. i saw one manufacturer that shows how you measure bars, then you can determine what you have, and what you would want...

someone on here was told that if you shut your eyes, put your hand where it compfrotable,3-4 times... have a buddy measure and see if they make bars similar to the measurements your buddy took.

comfortable, is what i meant, but what i wrote is kinda funny so i'm leaving it

I have the same issue. I'm going to go with stock Street Bob handlebars.

I ran drag bars for years and always found them comfortable but I'm a little older now and I find the Mini Apes that were on my Streetbob quite comfortable. I replaced them with HD Fat Mini Apes and 3-1/2" HD Stealth Risers and they're very comfortable for me, no leaning in at all.

Check out the Lowrider thread. Jakeiniraq has the Wild 1 Chubby WO504's installed. From a thread last spring sometime and pictures showing the difference between stock FXDL handlebars and the 504's, I had them installed on my LR and adjusted to me while I was sitting on the bike. What a difference they made!

I installed a set of these:
http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produc...d=21708&mmyId=

Dennis Kirk part #: H49136

Cheap, at only $40

Stock '09 FXDC. Was having shoulder tightness before; this brought the bars up 4" and back about 2", problem solved! The only thing I had to do was give the bars a little more slack in the front brake line at the clamp under the trees.

Uses stock handlebar clamp, so your gauge should still work.
