Spend the money and the time to relocate the signals and go with easy brackets, much better way to go. I started with throw overs, now very happy I made the switch.
Throw overs work if you give them some thought, I velcro'd a piece of furry rug under the throw over part, mounted a Motherwell rack over them and tied them down with the supplied ties and they never moved nor did they scuff up the paint------cheap and easy
River road makes throwovers that go between the shock and the stock turn signals... They can be purchased on ebay pretty cheaply... You'll have to measure the distance between the spring and the signal and get a bag that has a smaller measurement... But beware that those bags are not going hold much at all... I purchase a set of river road bags to fit between spring and signal... Then i sold them to a buddy, relocated my signals, got some larger throwovers, cut the yoke off, put some plexi on the inside of the bag and mounted some easy brackets to it... On and off in less than 20 seconds...
I made my bags from Herculite. There is a matal strip sewn in the top that has 2 bolt holes to keep it from sliding around and I made my own saddle bag guards. The backing on the bags is actually the same stuff they use for cycle covers. I get a little scuffing but nothing that couldn't be buffed out. I have pictures on clubchopper.
you can do a rack and bikers friend bag. Much more user friendly than saddlebags and very easy to detatch/attach. Will not need to move the signals. Also they provide a backrest. www.bikersfriend.com
I didnt want to move my indicators either so I got hold of sportster leather with moulded poly back panels .These came with a tubular mounting bracket that I modde to fit to the top sock bolt and the fender mount much as ti does on Sportsters. These bags slope down at the back and allow the bags to clear indicators. Ive attached a few pics if it helps (they may be thumbnails) Your local machineshop wii make the shock bolts for a few dollars. I made mine cos thats my job. This bolt is the only piece that stays on the bike, and it take just minutes to fix the support bracket thats bolted to the bag permantley.Arrows are fixing points PM me if you need more pics/help
If you don't want to move the turn signals, measure the distance between the top shock and the turn signal, then find a set of bags that will fit within that space.
