I stopped in at Northcoast Thunder Bikes and picked up the Santee 2-into-1 (Custom Chrome P/N 11180). See photo attached.
I just stopped in on my way to the ship this evening and the dude who works there was beefin' about having to do annual inventory. I asked if he was marking stuff down to move it off the shelf and he offered to sell them for $150. With tax ended up being $163.35 ... too good a buy for me to pass up!
While they're for Softail, I think they'll work on my bike ... guess I'll find out. Can't wait to get 'em on. It'll have to wait until I get back to port. We're underway for a little over a week.
D@mn it! No joy ... just couldn't get them to line up properly. I guess it's back to the drawing board. I want to get some pipes, but every swingin' d!ck on the forum has VH Big Radius. (It's not that I don't think those are good looking pipes, it's just not where I am trying to go with my look.)
Well ... have to do a little more investigating and pondering my options.
Crap.... what exactly was the problem, thinking of using softail pipes myself...
Can´t you build something with the stock pipes? Just buy other mufflers?
supertrapp 2-1. Real good price and some performance shops consider those and the D&D fatcats as the #1 choice for performance. Both those pipes recommended to me over the thunderheader.
Performance of a pipe depends on the build it's put on. Example on my build with my thunderheader it makes it makes 108 torque, and 101 hp. On this exact build I tried the fat cat (standard baffle) & made 104 torque, and 100 hp. Thunderheader also has a much nicer torque curve, and sounds better.
I've seen results the other way around on other builds also. Any of these 2 into 1's will make the power, that's why I always say to get the one that sounds best to you!
I think these were designed for Evo vice Twin Cam motors. The point of the "Y" on the pipe where the aft cylinder's exhaust collector merges with the forward cylinder's pipe is too far back. It is located right over the transmission cover ... but needs to be approximately 4 to 6 inches further forward.
The description states these are for "1986" which is pre-Twin Cam ... I'm not convinced these would work on a Twin Cam Softail ... but I suppose they might.
