Hey guys, i am in almost done with my new wheel mod. I am having trouble getting the shock tubes to slide through the new trees; do you have any suggestions?
you probably need to take the wheel off and do one tube at a time.
get one tube thru and tighten.
push the other one thru and eyeball the height compared to the first.
tighten enough so you can move it a bit - but not easily.
push the axle thru the lowers without the wheel.
adjust the loose tree until the axle slides thru easily.
tighten everything.
remove axle and reinstall with wheel.
get grease on your carpet.
blame the dog when your girl sees the mess.

Yes sir, slide a fairly large screwdriver in at the split and CAREFULLY open em up a little, check to make sure there are no burrs inside the trees, or you"ll scratch your tubes, be careful and good luck
ok, thanks!!!!! I got them in. One more question; the wheel done not spin easy. I know that it is the front brake. Why is this? i have pumped the brake and I have good pressure, so I am not sure what is going on.
Secure the front fork tubes in the triple trees. Get the bike off the jack. Loosen the front wheel and compress the front end several times. Tighten down the front wheel and jack the bike back up. Does the wheel spin? If it drags, loosen the front caliper. Does it spin free now? If so, shim the caliper to your rotor.
The wheel is straight and the tubes are even, but when I tighten up the caliper, the wheel does not spin easy at all. It it very tight; any advice here.
If your caliper is loosely bolted on will it turn freely? If so, here is what I did. I left the caliper bolts loose, squeezed the brake lever and looked to see where the caliper was in relation to the slider. Mine was about a sixteenth away from the mounting ears. I plan on getting som shims to make up the difference. Should solve the problem (I hope).
