i just installed xied,s yesterday on my 2008 fat bob. one under seat. super easy and one in front under voltage regulator. Little tougher only cause had to lay on ground and tougher to drink a beer that way but you dont have to take off regulator. Just unsnap plastic cover and disconnect the connector. insert xied and just get alittle creative and zip tie...simple
Thanks or the post. In the pics and on the DK Cutoms site it looks like they have a ground wire. I'm curious where you grounded them, especially the front one, or if you didn't. Thanks for the tips, I really appreciate it. Maybe I'll use a straw when I'm on the ground putting on the front one.
I was actually able to get at it just by unsnapping that plastic cover...took a bit of dexterity but no need to unbolt the voltage regulator. Thanks again!
This ^
I didn't unbolt it at first, but later took one bolt out and screwed the ground cable to it.
Mine is a 2012, think they are different this year forward
And to the other guy, I wouldn't put xied's in then dyno
I would take them out, get the dyno, then put them in
The xieds are to trick it into adding more fuel
Harley has to dyno/tune things to the lean side for EPA, put the xieds in after to richen it back up
Oh, and when I was done, I hid it kind of back behind plastic holder, lightly wrapped electrical tape around everything to keep it clean, and tie wrapped it out of view.
Great, no ground makes life a lot easier. This was the only thread about xieds and dyna's specifically so this is a big help. I just ordered mine. Will put them, and my slip ons, on this week. Anything else I should know? Thanks guys.
Think Nightrider says 2012 and up, the Dyna's now use the Touring ones
One under the seat (with a ground I grabbed right behind the rear cylinder)
One in front under the voltage regulator. I put in the chrome one below, and put the ground from the front one behind one of the screws

Thanks, I have a couple ideas about the vol reg, I'll have to explore under the seat a bit. I will call dk cust or nightrider tomorrow to make sure. Thanks again.
