I have highway pegs too, but I doubt I'd ever notice heat at highway speeds. So you're running just the pipes themselves? I've seen a couple guys post that they've managed to singe their pant legs since they had no shields or wrap.

Mine ran hot enough to burn a hole in my pants leg before I got it tuned on a dyno. That did more to cool it down than the wrap.

From what I have read around here the 96 runs hotter than the 88... Of course get your AFR down to 13.2:1 and the bike will have much cooler pipes.(the xied's do this, don't they?)

I've got XIEDs on my bike...can't really say how much they dropped the temperature though. The bike seems to run better...

XIED"s cooled my bike down a lot. You gonna wrap the pipes or not?

Yep, picked up some "graphite black" Thermo-Tec heat wrap at Auto Zone tonight. Don't know how close of a match that black is to rest of the bike, but I'm spraying over the wrap anyway, so...

I think the wrap is going to look good on your bike rockon. My wrap seems to be helping cool the pipes a lil bit, but nothing to write home about. I may have to look into the XIED's.

Painted them today. Probably wrap tomorrow. Maybe on the bike by Monday.
