just a dumb quick ? do you have to drain the fuel to take off the tank.I have evrything off but the crossover line and if i pull that line gas will probly spew all over unless ther is a valve in ther mmmm...help
If you pull the crossover, gas will spew!. Use 2 vice grips to pinch off the hose. Cut between the vice grips. put suitable can under one of the cut ends and remover that vice grip to drain tank. This is a good time to get the braided stainless crossover for your replacement.
A good idea is to wait till you have the least amount of gas in the tank. That way you don't have as much gas to drain. But I figured you should know that.
Here is a way to do this w/o getting fuel all over IF you have a carb model, an automotive vacuum tester, and 6 kids.
1) Drink up to five gallons of milk from those gallon sized plastic containers and clean them.
2) Remove the fuel and vacuum lines from the petcock. The fuel line shouldn't spill much because the carb end is downhill from the petcock, and it's the low spot in the tank.
3) Put a nylon hose on the fuel outlet at the petcock and run it down into a milk container. The hose doesn't have to fit tight, just over the outlet.
4) Put the vacuum tester on the vacuum port with a hose, turn the petcock on, and then put no more than 10" vacuum on the tester. The gas will flow.
5) When the container is full, release the vacuum and/or turn the petcock off. I recommend trying this mid-stream a couple of times, and don't wait till overflow time.
6) Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 until tank is as empty as you can get. When done right, the remaining gas should be below the level of the outlets on the crossover.
You can't get all the gas out, but you don't have to put up with 4-5 gallons of the stuff after cutting the crossover and using paper towels or shop rags to catch the residual.
Also, when you go to actually remove the tank, lift the front end up firrst and don't tip the rear end up higher, or that remaining gas will find you, your bike, and your garage floor. It'll stink for days.
i figered it out psilled some gas but not a lot put the 25 degree injectors in whhhooooooooooo wut a difference to bad i had to pay 90 bucks a pop and do it myself but hey its done.

the 25 degree injectors were installed at the factory on all bikes manufactured after what date??? I had my bike delivered March 29, I know it has the 25's with that recent of a D.O.M. but just want to be sure.
I took mine off with about a half gallon in it and it did not leak out the front because
the tank sits at an angle. You can take the tank mounting bolts out and pull the tank
up a few inches before cutting the hose. Just do not tip it forward.
