ok genious...so what are the major differences? aside from the bigger bore/stroke. in what did the harley engineers deem worthy to invest millions to redesign the powertrain they already had? you answer that with anything other than a childish "TAY" and maybe ill buy it. till then STFU
I thought "Tay" was taking it pretty easy on someone that obviously didn't know the cylinder, pistons, and top end parts were identical on the 88 and 96.
Usually when I don't know what I'm talking about I STFU, maybe you should try it sometime...TAY?
One more point from Donny Petersen on the TC96 from his book on the Twin Cam:
"Rear wheel horsepower has not increased! However, the combination of increased torque and matching the transmission gears to the new primary drive ratios make the bike very much faster than predecessor Big Twins are."
My best Bud has an '08 Street Glide with the stage one upgrade same as me. We are handlebar to handlebar all the way to 80+ from a dead stop. That would indicate the 96" is doing a lot more than the 88" considering his bike weighs 200lbs more than mine and he's about 50 lbs heavier.
Yeah I know it has been hashed to death over the grey engine, but I was at the dealer today picking up a part and i couldn't help looking and setting on the new bikes. I always have loved the street bobs, and was looking at a denim red, and denim black bob. They both look and feel like wonderful machines, albeit I would need forwards to ride them, but it is really hard to get over that big grey engine and primary.
It does kind of grow on you, but I can't help but think how cool an 08 bob with the blacked out wheels, and the new 09 fender/light combo would look. Especially with a 180/200 rear tire.
I will half to admit the red denim bob with a set of forwards wouldn't be too hard to get over that grey engine, but it just keeps sticking in my mind. I dunno if I could get over it.
My 88" stage 1 has better dyno numbers than just about every 96" dyno run I have seen with the stage 1 mods. The 96 ain't got nothing on the 88 at all. So far RedDevil has 1 more hp and a few ft-lbs of torque more.
Taken my 09 with stage 1 to the dyno today so V&H can build me a custom map for my fuel pak. I will post the numbers from todays runs then again after the custom map.
