Default '08 FXDC Shock length

Been looking over my service and owners manual trying to confirm the shock length. I think it is 12.6" but not positive. Looking at replacing the stock with a set of 412's of the same length.

I'm considering that. I'm one of the believers that a lot of time and engineering has went into the proper measurements of the suspension system. Albiet, I love the way a lowered rear looks. Any suggestions on what shock length works and looks best?

all dynas have the same frames... 3 out of 5 models have 12" shocks...the old fxdx had 13 or 13.5. By decreasing the length of the shock you only effect height and length of travel. The angles of travel remain the same so the simple single pivot suspension will continue to move in the same arc.

You will also lose lean some lean angle. Meaning, your pegs will hit sooner in hard cornering. There are advantages (looking cooler) and disadvantages (lose some handling) to everything.

That's a pretty good explanation. I may look into lowering a little.
