Default What would you pay for this? *Input greatly needed*

Hey everybody, I am still in the midst of battling my motorcycle accident from August and my attorney has inquired what the resale value of my bike would have been prior to the accident. The adjusters have placed an approximate value on the bike, though without any value of aftermarket parts and additional work done to the machine.

I just need some simple rough figures as to what you would feel is a reasonable asking price for me if I were to sell the bike on my own prior to the damages sustained. The bike is a 2007 Dyna Super Glide with approximately 20,000 miles at the time of the accident.

Modifications/Parts List -
Altered Super Glide Custom seat
Removed stock tail light and converted to rear signals/tail light
Progressive 412 HD Black Shocks 11"
SE II Slip-On mufflers, Ceramic coated and heat wrapped pipes
Swapped out Inner/Outer Primar, Battery and Electrical Panel, Cam cover to wrinkle black
Custom Air Filter Assembley
VRod/Brembo front caliper with Braided line
6" Straight Risers
Stock Night Train drag bars
Power Commander III USB Module
SE Spark Plugs and Wires
Rear Passenger Pegs added
Custom Side Mount License plate bracket
Repainted bike to flat black
Other Misc machine work/modifications.
New Metzler tires front and rear (about 1500 miles)
Lojack Equipped at time of original bike purchase

Motor was stock, no cams or head work. This bike was well maintained and ridden daily with no problems what-so-ever. Have taken a number of road trips on the bike with out worry and always ran perfectly.

The following pictures are what I have uploaded of the bike as recent as one week prior to the accident;

I am sure this is something that will need to be debated on with my case, but I am in need of help from my fellow riders and Harley enthusiasts so that I can make sure I am not getting bent over.

Thank you!

I'm afraid that my/our opinion will be of little value. My read is that your list of improvements, coupled with one or two salespeoples' opinions would carry the most weight.

FWIW

I'm only guessing, but they only offered a smidgeon over 11k, right?
Thats primarily because you're 10k miles over what the insurance wants to see, and they only credit 40 bucks for customization. You'll be hard pressed to get them to go much more than that

The new tires are worth nothing. When I worked at the dealer we would take the blue book clean price, 25% - 50% of the add ons max, not including labour and that was max value. Make up a detailed estimate on the parts and start negotiating with the adjuster. You do not have to accept what he offers.

I was given an amount of just over $10k for the bike as they only valued the bike as a stock 2007 Super Glide.

I am just looking to obtain a fair market resale value of my bike from others. I have had it appraised through a couple dealers and my original salesman and they also suggested posting it up within a Harley Community for additional information.

My disappointment with the value they placed on the bike was that they completely ignored any modifications or additional work done to the bike compared to the stock version they were using to declare a value.

unfortantly insurance adjusters don't see add ons as anything of value. When I totaled my sled I took all of the extras off before the salvage yard came and took it. If you have the bike in your posession still and have the stock parts might think about switching them.

You're forgetting that things that you see as extra value, like changing the paint, is seen as lowering the bikes value. Original would help your case better, unfortunatly.

you guys really need to get better insurance, i worked for all state for 2 years as a personal injurty adjuster after college, Learne ALOT about insurance and how to get what you need, found the best coverage for my style and what i needed was though state farm, all my mods are covered... ALL of them... i send an invoice and a pic of the bike to my adgent and he files it with my file, yes i do this for ever mod i do... covers you tail, and will allow me to collect on all my modifications, wether my bike is stolen, damaged, or involved in a accident... granted i do not have bolt on mods but i am not sure if that would matter... when i did personal injury adjusting our auto adjusters did take into account for custom work done to bikes... really depends on the adjuster, but you can also request and deny certain adjusters... you guys should really speak to your insurance rep and make sure he knows what they are doing. if oyu read your policys and select carefully you will get the same bike back... as far as costs on your ride man... i would say a bit over 11G's

Great advise jrk5892 I have State Farm also for insurance. Do your premiums go up much with each mod?

I greatly appreciate the input man, oddly enough this dispute is with State Farm insurance and it has resulted in hiring an attorney for the case. I am well aware of depreciated value of a stock motorcycle and also of the aftermarket parts I would install, however myself and the attorneys have found the value they have given for the bike to be unreasonable. I am not looking to obtain the full amount invested into the bike as it has been well used, but we are just trying to obtain all information possible and get a more reasonable amount to agree on for the bike as it was prior to the accident.
