My new Super Glide has the Security System on it. It was already on there, otherwise I would not have gotten it. I didn't get it on my 07 Sportster.
I'm not too crazy about have some sort of proximity detector determine whether or not I can start my bike. Those of you who have the Security System on your bikes, what has been your experience with it? Does it work okay, or is it a PIA?
I have the older one that does not require the fob to be near. All in all I think it's a PIA. My fob battery died once on me and it took me a long time to remember how to enter the code. I have not used it since then. If it were easy to remove, I'd put it on eBay. I just don't think that is going to stop somebody from stealing a bike.

just my .02
You said you haven't used it. Is there a way to disable the proximity part?
Generally speaking it works OK in the sense that it usually doesn't stop me from starting the bike. It does give me a little hassle when the fob gets cold (as in riding in the teens -- that's Farenheit, not metric degrees.)
Mine's a 2007 so it has the fob with no buttons on it and no sensitivity adjustment on the alarm. So if you change the question to does it work OK in the sense of being a useful alarm, I'd say no. People can sit on the bike without setting it off; it really only gets persnickety when you pick it up off the stand.

Mine is the older style. Kinda like a car fob with an unlock button. I just don't set the alarm and I don't have the bike programed to auto set upon the bike turning off.
Like mine alot would never take it off!! Also i wnt and bought the siren bacause it doesnt come with any audio, just flashing silent lights, and i bought the pager too with kicks butt! But i only take the pager if im going to the bar, resturant etc where the bike wont be in sight!
I love mine! My Nightster had one also. My new Super Glide has the siren I love it! I would like to get the pager and add to it for same reason, bars, bike night, ETC.
