Default Different shocks on FXDC?

In looking over all the visible difference between the FXD and FXDC I noticed that the shocks are different on the Custom. Is this just a cosmetic difference, or does the FXDC actually come with shocks with different calibration from the std model?

Measure them. The dealer had installed 1" shorter shocks on my 2008 FXDC prior to putting the bike on the floor and they look like the shocks on the FXD.

Essentially the same shocks as far as I know - just the tapered end on the FXD.

In the photos I posted the FXD shock has more coils showing:

FXD: 11 coils
FXDC: 9 coils

What I can't tell from the picture is if the coils are the same diameter. I wonder if the FXDC are heavier duty to help compensate for a passengers weight.

It's probably sufficient to say, at best, the FXDC shocks are meant to be a little more upgraded over the FXD but that probably isn't saying much. For less than 200 bucks I replaced mine with some Progressive heavy duties, a half inch shorter, and noticed a significant improvement in ride and handling.
