Forward controls do not take away from the ability to go through "twisties." I don't know why people insist on saying that. It depends on your riding skill and not everyone is an excellent rider. That's a fact. If you're over 5' 8" tall, the mid-controls on a Super Glide are a disaster - the riding position is cramped and made worse by the awful seat that is standard. Forward controls, pullback riser and a better seat make the bike what it should have been in the first place.
My Super Glide clunks through all the gears. Once you get used to it, you'll love it. A friend had a Road King and Super Glide. He sold the Road King because he likes the Super Glide better.
As has been said, the brakes will get better with time. Also, X2 as to what rdondes said about forward controls.... I've got HD forwards and twisties are no probem
Got there and spent a few minutes going over the bike with the sales manager. When he turned the key on the gas gauge said E. Tank full. Gauge doesn't work. Ah, well...that will get fixed this coming week. Nice way to start off on your new Big Twin, eh? I've had my Sportster for two years and it's never been in the shop for a warranty repair.
Just out of curiosity, what does your "miles to empty" counter say? At fill-up (and after you've ridden about a block), it should register something like 180 miles.

Where the F do you become HD expert? Mid controls a DISASTER? Yer Nuts! Made worse by the seat? Tell you what, before you announce your FACTS to everyone in the world,I wanna tell you,I think you are full of shlt.Compared to a sporty the stock pegs are like forwards. And I don't know what size *** you got but the seat is perfectly comfortable to me.I'm 5'11, 170 lbs. Thanks for the valuable misinformation.
Congrats on the new bike, very nice choice. As for the mid controls being like a Sporties forward controls, Chopperz doesn't know what he's talking about. I rode a Low Rider and the mid controls drove me nuts. Not even close to my Sporties forward controls.
I left the mids on and put highway pegs on because I like to be able to change my sitting position on longer rides. At 5'9, I couldn't ride all day with my feet on the mids, but that's just me.
Congrats on your new ride!

DITTO!
Sometimes I'll leave my feet on the HW Pegs and shift/brake with my heels.
The mids on a Dyna are FAR more comfy than on a Sporty and I think that is what Chopperz is referring to...
