Default Front End not chrome

I have a 2006 Low Rider that I love to death, but I am a little disappointed in Harley for not putting chorme where it is most needed, up front. The triple tree and forks are polished aluminum and they have started to fade. How hard would it be to swap out my front end for a new one, say the Duece since it is all chrome. any other ideas or suggestions would be most helpful.

Simichrome polishes aluminum real nice. I'm disappointed that Harley doesn't give me free bikes, but I digress. Such is life I suppose.

With as many tastes and customization options out there, we're all disappointed in H-D for something. They chrome the front end on all the bikes and somebody is going to be complaining that they would prefer polished. But they are no idiots when it comes to not giving you everything so you'll come back and buy more. You should be able to purchase a replacement chrome front end for your bike from somewhere without having to fit one from a different model. Or take the opportunity to go with a chromed wide glide front end. There are a lot of options out there.

i agree with you on the polish trees, mine started fading and getting spots on my streetbob also. so this is what i did,i did put on new wdg triple trees because i wanted them on my bike. but they were also polished chrome. so i sent them out and had them chrome plated (upper and lower trees for 125.00). the down time was two weeks, but it was well worth the wait. they look totally awesome. and well i re-installed them i decides to put chrome sliders on also, that i bought off ebay new for 100.00. so i changed my whole front end into chrome for 250.00 total.

so instead of buying a new front end, just send your trees out and get them chromed and new chrome sliders.i sent my trees to chromemasters in tenn., i will see if i have there webste still and i will post it if i find it. jackyl

Is it plausible that they do not chrome plate the trees on these because they clamp the forks in, which would mean that there is some flex int he material which could cause chrome flaking?

The flexing theory makes sense. Also, I've heard there are long term durability issues (pitting, peeling) with chroming aluminum, at least as compared to steel. Has anyone else heard this?
