1/8 inch would more than likely work. Its not a hard job at all just a little time consuming. Installed a set of forwards on a buddy's bike this weekend in right at two hours with a massive hangover from Friday night. The worst part is getting the auto tensioner put back together and installed without it springing back apart and pissing a person off.
I take that back, THE WORST PART is that H-D attempts to use every different type of fastener style known to man. May as well dump the entire toolbox on the floor and go to work, cause thats what it'll look like when you're done.
OOH LA LA, wherever did you come up with that fine piece of toolery? Looks like it would do the trick much better than trying to stuff my big mitts around the oil laden tensioner assembly and try to get it wedged into place without having it unload itself.
With the proper dimensions I could set out making one, that is, unless I would be money and time ahead just buying it.

tie wrap also works. this is faster.
make one, or just ask your favorite HD Tech to give you one.
that's where mine came from.
I believe these come along with purchase of new tensioner.
