Well i had syrgery last week so I've been using my time off woring on my bike. I painted the fork sliders, and I wrapped my pipes.Next thing on my list is to paint the cam cover and the transmission covers
looks good, did you think about putting the rear shields back on? that what i did. I think it cleans it up a bit. what kind of paint did you use on the lowers?
looks excellent. just had surgery today. been wanting to paint my fork sliders. could you
advise the process you did. thanks in advance jeff
process is simple.. *remove wheel, brake, and fender. Sand lowers with 220 grit. Mask off. Paint with epoxy enamel(appliance paint). Durable near powdercoat finish is yours for less than $10.
My lowers came out awesome...
I used ace hardware epoxy enamel paint. I also gave the lowers a couple of days before reassembly to cure a bit (5 days). epoxy takes 24 hours to dry fully. Thick stuff that is real easy to apply.
thanks for the info. i've been reluctant to paint the lowers. also have been just using krylon flat on my other parts not appliance paint. is this the same as high temp bbq/grill paint? did you or do you advise using any type of primer?
I removed the forks from the bike sanded all of the clear off of the sliders then used self etching primer (very important), then primed them with a high build primer, wet sanded with 600, then 2 coats PPG gloss black base coat, then finnished it off with 2 coats of clear coat. I had to have my appendix removed. The surgery went well, the worst part about it, is that it was right before new years eve so I didnt get to do much celebrating
