I took of the factory parts and installed a set of Progressive Suspension 412 12" shocks - chrome/black, HD springs. I used the parts that fit an '05. Easy bolt on, no sweat GI. It really was as simple as removing the factory shock and bolting on the new one.
The factory shock is a little longer. I have the shock at it's lowest setting, and the seat height is about 3/4" lower than stock.
Huge improvement in ride quality. I thought the factory ride was a bit choppy, and didn't handle rough pavement well. This is much better.

Did you jack it up or put it on a lift? I remember when I unbolted the shocks on my Sporty to install the bobtail fender, I had a HELLUVA time getting that upper bolt back in after they expanded. Would like some advice before I attempt that with the Dyna.
How much, if I may ask, did the Progressives run ya?
It's only 3/4" lower than stock. If you have the before and after picture side by side, you can see the differance. Otherwise it looks the same. You end up somewhere between stock SG and stock LR.
For shock R&R, it's a whole lot easier if you use a jack. I suppose you could do it without one if you had to.
