I just had the last service under warranty on my 06 Bob , wondering what the going price is for a 06 service manual. I can not afford about $500 a pop for service. Cant be that hard to change fluids, other items such as new belts and brakes will pay to have it done. The oils and fluids are high enough by them selves.
Check eBay and the classifieds here. May get a deal. MSRP is $48.95, I think. Zanottis or Chicago will be cheaper.
Make sure you get the 06 manual. Don't try and save money by getting a deal on an 07 or other. WIth the manual, you will be able to do a lot more thna just fluids.
Same here,
one of the first things I got for the bike was a shop manual. I paid $55 for mine on the dealer. +1 on being able to do more than just changing fluids. Think of it as an ubber Haines manual on your 74 Pinto!!
Save yourself time and aggravation. Go to Harleydavidson.com, look up your year/model bike, and buy the Service Manual and Parts Manual. You will be asked to choose a nearby dealer from which the manuals will be purchased - you can pick them up or have them mailed to your house (which is what I did). This way you get the right manuals and don't have to spend large amounts of time looking around eBay, etc. and wondering if you're getting the proper manuals. Just do it. the $120 for both manuals from Harley will serve you the entire time you have your bike.
One thing I would like to add to rdondes post is do yourself a favor and take you service manual to your nearest Kinkos and have it spiral bound. It's $4.99 and well worth it.That way when you open it it will stay open.
Thanks for the info. Good idea to go to the dealer. Will get a new one, the ones off e-bay may be not in good shape. The idea about getting it bound with a ring binder is a great idea so to use it better. I just picked up my bike and the labor for the service was $240.75 and the parts were $182.64, glad it was under the service policy that I bought. I looked at the parts for the 20k mile service and they were $99.00 with $225 in labor. Makes a person want to go to bike mechanics school.
