Sometimes i feel bad when making a purchase from someone who i don't normally deal with.... the whole customer loyalty thing. but for some reason it always ends bad. i say that you play the dealer who didn't call you back against the other dealer. it's not like your sacrificing anything right now anyway so give it your best shot and you'll probably end up better than you were. also, you should play the accessory game!!!!
Forget what people say and watch what they do....the guy who didn't call you back doesn't give a $hit about your business...period. Plus you already put money down on a bike...I assumed you signed as well? Plus your gut reaction on the guy who wouldn't call back is probably right. Trust your instinct.
Hell I just went through almost the same thing with my trade-up. The dealer I bought mine from wasn't willing to pick up the bike I wanted from another dealer so I went to the other dealer who has been nothing but helpful. As it was said already, look out for number one. I say give him the number and a chance to explain himself, but I agree with you about being busy as well. Either way, good luck to you and I hope you get exactly what you want!
I wouldn't give the other salesman the number to shoot for. Maybe he has a good reason for not calling you back.......maybe his story is all BS. Whatever the case may be, I would give him another shot at your business, but I would make sure the playing field was level. The other dealer, without any coaching gave you a good deal, see what this guy comes up with, without your help.
It's always easy to be Johnny come lately, and meet or beat your competition, if you know what they are bidding. Would you want them handling your service in the same fashion ??
Keep the playing field level......and may the best dealer win.......
So why does this d*ckhead need the other dealer's number? Just give me a f-ing good deal and stop playing f-ing games. I don't give a sh*t what anyone says-screw all of the dealers! You think anyone gives a damn about you? Get your best deal the best way you can, but don't do that ******* any favors.
Edit: Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I don't play into the whole "let me pretend to try to get you a good deal" crap. I have yet to go into a dealer and actually not feel like I am surrounded by vultures. I also don't dig the 3 mildly cute girls trying to help me pick out a freaking helmet. How can you make $7 an hour selling the American dream and believe all that crap? It's almost embarrassing going into a dealer. Ok, I'll shut up now...

Tell him it isn't any of his damn business. If he wanted the business he would have called. Don't give him the other dealer's number. Tell what price the other dealer gave you for him to work with. BUT don't give him the other dealer's number. Good luck. It is hard to find a respectable dealer.
My .02. I would tell the guy who stood me up, straight up, that if he can't make it worth your while that you already have a deal in hand and then walk. A lot of these salesman will beg for your business back and then give you something piddly. Make him give you something that is worth his negligence!!! Good luck and keep us up to date.
I would give the other saleman the number, then wait for them return their new lower number. I would look at very closely, smile as if I was going to do it, then look the dealer in face and tell him "*%&$ off, I would rather pay someone else alittle more money and be treated like someone really cares then buy from you or this $%#*hole dealer"! and then walk out. Now this is of course if the new deal was just marginally better. If it is substantially better, take the new deal, look out for number 1 as others have mentioned.
good luck!!
Most of these guys at the dealers are full of s**t. They never call you back when they say they will, then when they do, they wonder why you went with another deal. Bottomline, they're not the only dealer around so having options is always good. They forget that they have a willing buyer but they only want to deal with you when it's convenient for them. You just treat them the same exact way. Remember, you're the one buying, they're the one selling. Game over!
First thing to remember is that It is your money, if you have a better deal grab it. Second thing is if he wanted your money, he would of called you, not you calling him to remind him you have money to spend.
