Looking forward to seeing this together. Those bags are going to set it off just right. So how long does your commute take? I'm guessing you must be on Whidbey Island. A friend and I rode through there last fall, nice area. We had just went over Deception Pass and a fighter jet went over and scared the snot out of us. The ferry ride to Port Townsend was interesting. I always thought they tied the bikes down but it worked out just fine. They sat there solid and still as the cars and trucks rocked and bounced.

A couple of photos of the brackets
Joe Knapp (JRK5892) had posted some photos recently of his bags and how they mount with ghostbrackets ... I couldn't find where I had posted my brackets (although I'm pretty sure I had) ....

that is the same brackets i bought to use on mine, then went with the quick release, i am using those brackets now on my wifes bike, plus i already powdered them and they look so so clean!

Pulled the bags of the Dyna when I rebuilt it. It had some cheesy soft bags that were damaged when it was crashed. If I didn't have the Street Glide for hauling stuff I'd probably go the same route you are.
