Yea I really don't want to get a full face I rode with one when I had my Buell. I didn't like it felt really confined but when your going in excess of a hundred ya kinda need it. I prefer a half lid but isnt that a whole other thread lol
I'm not saying that windshields look bad, but they really don't look good either. Why not be safer with a full face helmet and still have a cooler looking ride? I can ride much longer with a quality fullface than an open face without getting wind fatigued. That being said, a windshield will ofer more wind protection. I want to pick up a Memphis shades Rio Grande so my wife will ride with me on a 900 mile trip...the windshield is a stipulation of hers.
I think looking cool with a windshield is better than looking bad with a full face.
I can't stand full face. Might as well be in a car, IMO. Too hot, too confining, and you can't hear and sense the world around you as well. Which, to me, is what riding is all about.
I've never understood why people think windshields look bad. That's like saying a comfy seat looks bad. You want the bugs and road grime on your fac,e or on your fullface helmet? Not for me. Go for the windeshield dude.
All you usually need is a smaller one to break the wind.
They are great for the track, on the street your hearing and sight are limited. No thanks
What ever happened to let the rider decide?
When I sold my Dyna, I kept the quick release, and mounted it on my Sporty. Last week I rode 100 miles without it, came home and snapped it back on.
I had a Memphis Shades Sport on it with a quick release. It looked cooler, but had a wee bit of buffeting.
I wouldn't say I'm any kind of "****". I used to rock a novelty helmet, and frankly I don't give two ***** about anyone elses safety if they don't. I chose a fullface for wind/bug/rain protection...not safety. Also, I said "quality fullface", remember.?. You would be suprised how good a quality fullface can feel. I never tell anyone to wear a fullface, but the original poster suggested either a windshield or fullface...I gave my opinion that a fullface was a more practical decision with all things considered (at least for my riding still). Keep in mind however, that I don't ride like a grandma either though, and that "wind in your face feeling" sucks when you are haulin *****. My point is, I wear a safe helmet and you don't. I don't care what you wear. Sometimes I don't wear a safe helmet either. Again, who cares? Now explain to me why I am a ****. Explain to me how I am not "letting the rider decide"???
I think looking cool with a windshield is better than looking bad with a full face.
I bet I looked alot cooler with my old school 3/4 helmet or novelty skull cap. I KNOW I looked cooler with my ape hangers and forward controls. So I made sure I got lots of pics before moving to a setup that was more performance friendly... Drags, mids, fullface, and a lack of concern for what other do with their bikes!
+1!!! I had the sport shield but it was too high. This compact one is perfect for me. I've heard a lot about buffeting with this shield, but I have not had any problems.
windvest is good. small. 2 heights, 14" and 16". each size has an inch of adjustment, the 16 might have 2"?
anyway - check out their website for recommended size based on your height.
I have the 14" and see right over - don't even notice it's there. I'm tall and the wind hits my helmet right at the forehead - so I'll be going to the 16 and it should be perfect.
