As I understand it, you really don't need the kit that comes with the tire. The kit, is apparently some way to ensure your rear turn signal wires are out of the way for clearance issues with tire rubbing. My question is to anyone who has bought the kit, is there a different mounting bracket that comes with this kit? It's the mounting bracket that is under the fender that the bolts up the fender to fender struts. The original bracket, at the back of the fender, has a ridge or bulge in it, that the wires attach to for clearance. I have relocated the rear TS and no longer have an issue with lose or in the way wires. Since this "ridge/bulge" is incorporated into the one piece bracket, does anyone know if it might be in the way of the larger tire? Should it be hammered flat? This bracket is one piece with the spacers built into it for the fender bolts to go through.
The stock bracket has bolt heads at the rear mounting holes up next to the tire. The "kit" bracket, like the detachable backrest bracket, uses threaded sleeves so the bolt goes outside to inside and doesn't stick out. I have just the tire, and the detachable brackets. The stock brackets may work, but I have not done it myself. There are more threads on this topic than stars in the night sky. You may find someone who did it with all stock hardware if you do a search. Good luck.
I have been reading on this forum by the way that in many instances individuals who have not used the kit have had wire problems. I have 12k on mine with kit no problems for 65.00 get the kit and be done with it.
Let's take this discussion further. I just bought 08 Streetbob fender off Ebay to put on my 08 Fatbob. Since I already have the 180 tire, is the fender a direct bolt on without "the kit"?

I think you would either need that kit or the detachable kit. Look up underneath and see if you have bolt heads sticking out.
