Seen it done and I know the PC I use does them but honestly you can get progressive to swap the springs for you cheap or just get black springs cheaper than having them blasted and powdercoated. I got my last pair of 412s in heavy duty chrome and they were too harsh so before I purchased springs and did them myself I asked Justin at progressive and I wanna say that after I sent them the shocks it was like $30 to get my chrome heavy springs replaced with black std. springs. When I got them back I decided to remove the chrome upper and lower covers too so now mine are all black and look alot like works or progressive 418s.

Definitely should be able to order them already black. I don't know about the cost but it would certainly save you the time of having them done.

I've often wondered about this, if you powder coat shocks you would have to somehow totally disassemble the shocks or you would cook/melt your bushings am I right? Seems like way too much work for me I think I'd just take em off and spray paint the hell out of them. It'd be easy to just mask off the top and bottom caps and spray the springs with an epoxy or a good enamel.

Special Ed - You're right, you can't get the whole shock that hot or it will be ruined but taking it apart takes about 2-3 minutes... not alot of work at all. Joe listed the step-by-step above.
