Surprisingly, the most comfortable footwear (boots, shoes, sliper, etc.) I have are my cheapass boots from Wal-Mart, of all places. They're leather and nylon and pretty much water proof. I'think they're the "Commando" model, and sell for less than $50, the last time I looked.
I've got a set of Harley Miner boots that i absolutely love. Harley doesn't make them any more but you can still get them online. They're comfortable to ride in and also wear all day. I think i got them 2 yrs ago for about 65 bucks. When i wear them out i'll get another pair.
Red Wing boots are my favorites. Darn good quality. Ebay has tons of them for cheap. So does Amazon.
Here are the ebay search results for my current Red Wing harness boots. I've been wearing this pair for the last 20,000 miles and they've held up amazingly well.
I pretty much wear wolverine boots for everything (goretex lined) and often find them cheaper at http://workingperson.com/ (free shipping/exchanges) or at my local Tractor Supply.
+1 on the red wings!! I got the red wing motocycle boots that is laced with the zipper also. Awesome grip and my dad rode with red wings for years and replaces them every 5 years.
as lame as it sounds i have a pair of sketchers that have been to hell and back riding/camping/foul weather. i'm not sure if you can still fine em since it has been years but they rock! got em at kohls for 25 buck or something. prolly gonna replace them with red wings if i cannot find the sketchers again. i have never really been impressed with the hd boots, though the ladies seem to dig the boots made specifically for them.
