I've been trying to sell my 04 V-Rod and I have a buddy that works at my local HD dealer and he mentioned something to a sales guy there. Anyway, they called me today and shot me some numbers on an 09 Street Bob. He said full MSRP ($12999) and he'll give me $8550 (which is what i listed it for on ebay) for my v-rod. Later i recieved an e-mail from him saying he would throw in a $500 gift card. I like the price of the v-rod but am not happy paying full MSRP. I need some advice. Thanks, Bam Bam
The odds of getting them below MSRP aren't good. Most dealerships are hard up to sell bikes, but that doesn't always mean they are willing to take a huge hit on their end.
If you are financing, see what they are offering there. I'd aim for that MSRP out the door - see if they'll eat tax/tags/prep.
Next to impossible to get any dealer down more than 200 bucks, but since they always make more money on used units you might have a slight better chance.
Think of it this way your getting what you want and your getting it now. You have it listed for the same price. Which could take weeks to sale and you have to deal with all the people just kicking tires and saying they are going to buy then do the money deal and title deal etc. My time is worth money trade it in get what you want and don't deal with that hassel. Take the msrp and $500 and get that bike. Like others said try to get them to eat prep and tax title etc and there ya go.
Your able to move your bike and not have to hope you sell it and will save on 8500.00 of sales tax. Not that bad of a deal. Try and get them to throw in the first service for free or something.
Just try to bargain. I don't think they are selling many bikes. I got mine for about $1500 under MSRP last July, and that was the "out the door" price.
