I bought my first Harley, a 2007 Wide Glide, on Ebay on Christmas day (merrry Christmas to me!). I made a "best offer" of $11,000 which was accepted, so I paid that plus TT&L. It had 2500 miles on it and is the black pearl color.
It's stock with a few exceptions. It has a short, removable sissy bar and pad. The mufflers are Screaming Eagle (not II's). The turn signals lenses/bulbs have been changed to the gray lenses.
After I got it home (6 hrs away) I took it by a local Harley dealer and had them go over it. They installed a missing bracket that connects the mufflers and changed the primary oil. Other than that they gave it a clean bill of health. It has no scratches, dings, or bruises of any kind that I can find.
I've added a removable Harley windshield that I also found on Ebay and about 700 miles since Christmas.
I had a Yamaha 750 that I sold about 20 years ago. The first Harley I ever rode was the test drive on this one. The only thing that took some getting used to was the forward controls. I'm really enjoying it so far, and planning a 500 mile trip in a couple months.
So, did I do OK?
Well done. I just pulled off a similar steel!
picked up a 2007 fxdb with bags windshield and slipons grips, custom tail light with blinkers included, plus lay down license plate, and Sundowner solo seat.
Minor scratches on the rear fender, you wouldn't be able to see them unless I told you they where there. And we are putting a passenger pillion over them.

Holy ****... you did REALLY good!! Are you kidding me!!? Thats awesome man.. Congrats on the new ride. You really did steal that thing man. Enjoy it brotha! Post up some pics as soon as you can.
Thanks guys. I have to tell you I was a little anxious for the 6 hour ride to pick up the bike. I had looked at one like this one at a local Harley dealer with a few less miles that was priced between $16,500 and $17,000. I was really surprised when my offer was accepted. Did I mention that I only told my wife AFTER I won the bid?
I tried to post some pics but I apparently don't have that figured out yet. By the time I got the resolution low enough for the forum to accept, the pictures weren't usable.
By the way, the used bike dealer was a really good experience for me and they had over 100 used bikes on the premises. That means over 99 left for you guys!
Just use imagevenue.com and they make it super easy to upload pictures by simply copying & pasting the provided links. And you get to show full resolution pictures instead of crummy low res attachments.

I purchased my wide glide from a reseller also. I still stop in to say high every now and then, and they know me by name and ask if I'm ready to move up to a road king yet. . Good People
