I had to lay my 97 Dyna Super down a couple of weeks ago and bent the shifter shaft that runs through the primary chaincase. So I have to remove every thing including the inner case. My question is will an electric impact wrenches take off the Jamnut and the Compensating sprocket nut. I can't afford to take it to a shop and I sure can't afford to buy a compressor big enough to drive air tools. Any info on this problem will be appreciated.
Most people say impact on the comp is bad, unless you're gonna replace it.
Is that the trick where you cut a flat metal bar to fit diagonally between the 2 sprockets to jam them from turning? Or I suppose the chain tensioner is in the way?
You can also try having a friend (the bigger, the better) sit on the bike with the front wheel against a wall and the rear brake applied while in 4th gear or so to keep the rear wheel from turning while you lay into a cheater on your breaker bar.
Better get a service manual and be sure to check and see if the jam nut is left hand threaded. You need a primary locking tool as well. Don't forget the comp nut is probably red loctited on so a little heat may be necessary.
