Default Wide Glide thin front tire

Just looked at a Wide Glide---liked it but, how's that thin front tire? I do a lot of 200+ mile rides (one way) and it seems like the thinner front tire isn't a great choice for that kind of riding------am I wrong? I currently ride a Super Glide.

It is to ruts in the road what a locomotive's wheel is to a track.

I regularly do 200+ miles with mine. Never have any problems worth talking about.

No problem with comfort at all. Did a 4200-mi, 11-state, 11-nat'l park roadtrip in September with several 400+ mile days. With that way-out-there skinny 21", be careful with slow, tight maneuvering on sand/dirt/gravel surfaces (my one and only drop). Thankfully, only wounded pride.

I don't have any really long rides under my belt yet. 150 is probably the longest so far. I do have a 30 mile ride to work that can be a little butt clinching at times. Lots of pot holes, especially after alot of rain. But, I have never had any damage to the bike.

I put on a lot of really long days, some 800+ and have never had a problem with the skinny tire. My WG is very comfortable for long rides.

rut runners i call them after i switched to the 21 frt tire, there not that bad but once in a while you will grab a groove or a rut.. i just installed a 21x 3.25 frt tire and rim. should fix all that, i will tell you how it handles when that white stuff melts. jackyl

I got tired of rut runners myself, and changing my tire selection from Dunflops to Metzlers seemed to help. Neither tire stopped me from riding 300+ days though.

Respects,
Ed

I have never owned anything but a rut runner. And I take long Iron Butt rides every year. It seems pretty comfortable to me.
And good lookin too

I have no problems. I used to have a 19" wheel with the dunlop 100 on there. the metzeler 90 is much better than the dunlop 100. It does not follow grooves near as easily.
