I know about the parade mode, but I thought that was only installed on baggers.....I'm gonna save up my nickles and dimes and get a SERT installed and have it dyno tuned for a/f ratio down the road.
I have the SERT installed on my bike. Bike has never run better and you won't be sorry you spent the extra money.
The TC96 does not "overheat". It does run hot because it is a stroked version of the TC88 and there is a larger rotational mass with the engine internals which generates more heat. Add to that more stringent lean tuning to meet EPA emission regulations and you have an engine that will approach 300*F on a hot day in slow traffic. But all you have to do is use sythetic oil and you are fine as the syn oils handle 300*F with no issue. .

This can be countered by increased rotational forces of the wheels which is generated by the rotational forces applied to the throttle.
My '09 FXDC runs no hotter than my '07 XL1200R, the Sportster when it was hot would ping harder than a x-wife with canceled credit cards when you got on it hard, the Dyna is ping free so far but summer is the true test...
Does anyone even know what the temp is that your 96 runs at? I'm looking for a temp gauge in the dip stick for a 08 fxdc so I can do a before and after with my V&H exhaust . Only one I can find is 62938-00D on page 160 for 99-05 Dyna but need one for 08
