Hello all! I'm the proud owner of a 07 Dyna FXD. I am considering changing out my stock handlebars for a set of "street Slammers". I have been in touch with a Harley Rep. who has been very helpful. The only problem I'm told is that I would be better off incorporating a digital speedo/tach. because its really the only fit that will work. I was also told that my other alternative would be to side mount a typical speedo off the leftside of the motor. That's an option I'm not interested in. I would prefer a "classic" speedo/tach look but I am ok with digital instruments. Any thoughts?
other option is accutronix makes an adaptor that will mount an 03 and earlier speedo mount to your bars. you need to get the 03 mount from harley and the accutronix adaptor as well. Adaptor found in drag specialties catalog and most dealers can order these parts as well. Adaptor at bottom of page: http://www.accutronix.com/products/risers/R1.shtml#
this is the gauge mount...also can be had in black like stock fxd. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
I went with the 07 Screaming Eagle Superglides set-up on mine. Its a little pricey to do but not that bad. Its not street slammers but a drag style bars and keeps the traditional gauges.
JMpancoast has a nice setup with his digital speedo. There are a few options for mounting the speedo on t-bars like rounder posted. This is what I ended up doing. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...s-of-pics.html
I have my speedo mounted just fine with my drag bars. Look at my sig picture. I used clutch cable brackets as a cheap alternative to the accutronix bracket. Cost me $20!
I had a custom bracket made by a local machinist that turned out great. That might be another custom option for you. You can find more photos in my gallery if interested.
The other day I saw an upper handlebar clamp with a digital speedo and idiot lights. Not sure who makes it. Or you can get a street bob tank and gauges $$$. First clue, don't believe everything the dealer tells you. Look around first.

That is one of the best setups I've seen! Do you think something like that could be done with a 2011 Fat Boy?
Seems like it's hard to get customizing suggestions here...
Has anyone tried the digital speedometers from Dakota? I prefer the look of the analog gauges, but Dakota has a narrow one that would fit great under my handlebar and it looks like it would handle all the info.
