Default 06 rotor update

OK did my rotor upgrade this morning. Obviously I can weld better than I can take photos. When get home I will take a better photo and post it. I tig welded (2) tacks on each bolt head and used a little 308 stainless rod for filler metal. I am 100% sure I will not have the bolts back out now. Total cost is right at $74.00 for this upgrade. Still waiting for my timken IPB to be able to put back together. I have much more peace of mind now.

Nice!!! Was it difficult taking everything apart? Guess you must be good at this whole wrenching thing. I had mine replaced with an 07+ welded stator when mine went out under warranty.. (I had a few days left on the warranty too!! PHEW!!)

Adrian it's not too bad to R&R the primary. First time about 2 hrs. After having done it once I can remove the primary in about an hour now. You can do alot to our bikes with a manual, lift and a few tools. To know what tools I need I just start on something and go as far as the tools I have take me then I go purchase what I need to finish.

I really wish I knew what stator was in my bike, with a build date 2 months after yours, I'm thinking it may be the 2 piece.

i guess i'll find out eventually..

Thanks, for the pictures, that way i know what im looking at anyway....

I'm thinking you don't have a macro lens.

Nice work, what sparked you to go ahead and do this? Is it just a preemptive strike against the stator?

Why I opened my primary was, I changed wheels and tires as part of my winter mods. I needed to change the drive belt to accomidate the new rear pully. So since I was already there, I went ahead and preformed a little preventive maintenence. My labor is free to me so why not. $74.00(gaskets,oil etc.to put back together) is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

What specialty tools did you need, if any. I know I'll be doing this fix one day. Trying to get as much info. as I can....thanks.

To remove the primary you need a primary locking tool. I made mine. A piece of steel 7" long, 1" wide and .5" thick. It wedges between the clutck sprocket and the compensating sprocket so you can remove the bolts.
