Man I really could have used that info earlier today when I was trying to order o-rings and gaskets from the local indy shop. How many times can you reuse the derby cover gasket? I know you aren't supposed to, but delicate hands make it possible sometimes.

I think the thread sealer is a carry over from earlier years when the plugs did not have o-rings. I think proper torque and a new o-ring is sufficent.

Oh yea the thread size on the derby cover screws is 1/4 x 20 which is the same thread size as the primary, transmission & cam cover screws.

Yup, that's all I did. No drips so far.

Remember to clean the plug and o-ring with brake cleaner, then lube the o-ring before you screw the plug back in.

I read somewhere on another thread,when using any thread loctite it wont give a true reading with torque wrench.

you can pick up a little kit from the dealer with 3 o-rings and a new derby cover gasket for about 5 bucks. I'd say a little teflon tape or white loctite wouldn't be a bad idea.

You can get a 10 pack of o-rings at Lowe's, from their plumbing department. I believe the "size" is number 41. The number 40 will fit the Arlen Ness Big Sucker air cleaner housing/mounts where the banjo bolts go.

That's all I know for now...
