i am 6' and on a wide glide. i love the look of these was just worried bout interferance. Just put a set of S.E 103 cyl. with pistons and 255 cams. have a set of big radius pipes an a stage I kit. maybe i will get an early B-day present. was also lookin at the hypercharge air kit also.
If I was looking I would look at the S&S high flo kit. Sticks out less than the others but has the tear drop cover with slots in it for fresh air, plus the filter is about an inch longer than the normal stage 1 or S&S.
Just my opinion, but I'm partial to S&S parts and to me the S&S tear drop has always been a sign of a "don't **** with me" HD.
It seems that it's designed to look like it has a ram-air effect, but I doubt that's realistic. There is no added plenum pressure by design or tapered venturi in it, so it will only flow as much air as any other exposed (non-football) intake.
There are several cheaper options that will provide just as much performance, so the added price really boils down to looks over performance.
was wondering about the heavy breather kit. just questioning the actual performance of the kit. I know it looks good but but i am not in to the whole looks thing unless it is performing too. also looks as if it would be in the way of your leg during ride.? Any info???????
It performs better than the stock air cleaner, but doesn't perform better than the Stage I air cleaner.
the xtra h.p comes from cooler intake air temps. heavy breather out front in ambient temp air vs football covered stage one pulling hot air off the engine. local tuner says there worth 2 h.p.over the stage one with the cover on the dyno, probably more in actual riding.
What I was gonna say... cooler air intake than a covered stage 1... www.boyesen.com for something that will improve throttle response and add a couple hp and torque...(power x-wing)

If your looking for performance more than looks check out Sickwithit bike. That's a Forcewinder and the filter element
is narrower and will not get in the way of your leg.
