I've looked over a number of threads talking about this mod. Many of them talk about the cool facter as opposed to the performance factor. Does this mod enhance performace or keep pace with stage I system? Thanks
Just as good or better airflow than the SE stage 1 kit. If you would like to get the best bang for the buck, Boyesen engineering makes an x wing that goes in your current filter. It will smooth out and improve the air flow significantly. Your throttle response will improve nicely and you should pick up about 2 HP and a few ft-lbs of torque all for about 125 dollars. www.boyesen.com I think you will get more from the boyesen power x-wing than getting a heavy breather.
+2 on the x-wing, Plus if your not satisfied with the performance you can return it for a full refund. As for the heavy breather, any of the open cone filters will perform better. Wimmer makes a great set-up also but only comes in black or polished. I went with the SE because of it being chrome.

Ok, I've a question about the heavy breather. I have a round af cover, I like the look but not resting my knee while I ride. Looks like the heavy breather would give you lots of knee room on the right side. Is that the case?

My leg used to hit the stock breather but doesnt touch the SE Heavy Breather at all.
I have the Heavy Breather with mid controls. No factor for my right knee when on the mids. Move my right foot to the Highway pegs and my right knee just contacts the aft of the breather tube.
No offense to the guys using that x-wing, but that sounds alot like that turbonator product that came out years ago.
It is a proven product with several write ups and published dyno results. All have confirmed it works. The added throttle response and increase in torque and HP are worth the money.
I don't know anything about the turbonator just the boyesen product.

Not giving you a hard to but were they write ups in magazines where the product is also advertised? I've seen hundreds of positive dyno results on products that are pure junk. I would put more faith in an independent forum member that did a write up and dynoed the product before and after the install on the same day. That is about the only thing that would keep me from believing this is just another snake oil product. Seat of the pants results are often more the result of the reduced weight in the wallet than the product itself
