OK, I'd like to chime in. The turbonator's creator designed the device not to increase air flow but to create turbulance into the manifold. It does not work and in my opinion is a POS product designed for one thing; generate money. The problem with the heavy breather is although it is in direct contact with air flow it does nothing to increase that air flow and is in reality more inefficient then having an air cover which purpose is to collect and channel air into the filter at a higher velocity.
The Boyssen X-wing purpose is to increase the velocity of air at the throat and manifold where it will maintain it's pressure, in effect acting as an extended venturi. The X-Wing accomplishes the purpose for which it was designed and is an excellent stand alone product which in fact works as advertised.
Before some Adam Henry accuses me of being an agent for Boyssen, I am not and no way affiliated with the after market industry. KEVIN.

one thing, the heavy breather pulls cooler air than the stage1 with a stock or round cover on it.
This can make a difference.
Perhaps, but how much of a measurable difference does it make? That may be a hard question to answer, since the measurement is on a Dyna, which isn't going anywhere and therefore not subject to airflow as if you were on the road.
I suppose we could nitpick back and forth as to how much difference the Heavy Breather really makes over a high flow air cleaner. In the end, I'm not sure that it's really enough to be a concern to most riders (not racers). I think it honestly boils down to a matter of taste, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Thanks for the input. My knee does not make contact with the football; I'll try the X-Wing, get it run on the Dyno and check out the difference. Thanks Again Mark
I can't tell you if the heavy breather actually increases airflow or horsepower, but........I can tell you when my bike was dynoed I lost 4 hp with the ugly black sock on!
I'm getting ready to put a RSD Venturi AC on my FatBob, and the X-Wing sounds very interesting. Would it still be useful to use an X-Wing with the Venturi AC?
Dude, don't waste your money with the xwing crap. It is just a placebo using the mental attitude of since I paid so little, it must work. Times that by several undred thousand suckers, and the people at boysen get rich. It is designed to make you THINK you can feel a performance gain.
Swirling air in circles in a fuel injected system has no effect at all. And barley anything at all in a carbed setup. These products are a scam that prey on people looking for a cheap power fix. It simply isn't there.
But in the end, it is your hard earned money, do with it what you wish.

it is designed to provide less turbulence in your throttlebody/carb. Probably should find out what it actually does before you post negative comments on this.
