I'm with ya on the sportbike stuff... never really had one, but I'm young and liked the look, and pads as well. I rock an ICON Motorhead (black on black) and an ICON Superduty sportbike jacket, which is nice during the summer, cuz the leather sleeves zip off...
I wear a nice $100 to $150 standard leather jacket. (IE not made specifically for bikes) I'd never pay $400 for a jacket just to advertise for Harley or any other motorcycle company ... my BIKE already does that! :-) I only wear chaps when it's really cold and wear a half helmet when it's warm, full face when it's cold. I do much of my riding in Mass where they require helmets and I would never ride without a helmet in NH unless it were slow "beach resort summer time parade riding" like is done at Hampton Beach NH. I always wear some type of riding glove even when it's hot to protect from bugs, rocks and sunburn. ALWAYS wear long jeans to protect from rocks, bugs and the sun. Either low safety shoes or sneakers. (I hate boots or high tops) Yes Sneakers ... they give me great GRIP when i have to put my feet down. For me I believe in safety gear BUT i like it in moderation. If I thought I needed head to toe armor to ride I'd stay in my cage. Lets face it ... motorcycling does have some risks. We all take risks everyday. I may crash or fall someday but if i really dwelled on that i wouldn't ride a bike.
I like to have some protection so I wear a safety jacket with hard protectors and with a back protection. On this I can have whatever I want, hood, long sleeve shirt or a jacket.
When I first bought my bike , I wore Harley everything. Boots , belts, jacket , t-shirt, Helmets and gloves. Once I realized I looked like a Harley bill board and starting feeling less pressure to fit in , I went back to my 12 year old redwing boots and bought a River Rd jacket, which I like alot. Painted the helmet and switched to first gear gloves.
I'm a big fan of the ICON stuff too (wearing an Airframe Rubatone helmet currently, which is awesome). Was actually considering the Motorhead myself, is it comfortable when riding the bob?
I like the Motorhead Skull, but $250 more for graphics? Damn...
A toss up between that and the ARC Speedfreak (textile), but not sure of the cut is too sport oriented (comes down low in the back)..
I was thinking the STRONGARM for the summer..

Maybe it's just me, but I've never felt any pressure to fit in or try extra hard to not fit in. I have some H-D items, but I wouldn't choose them just because of that...or not choose them just because of that. I have a Harley "Transformation" jacket that I bought a couple of years ago, and it has served me well and is very versatile, though I would love that leather one that is similar (but big bucks). I think mine is basically the same as the Switchback that icecaps posted.
