I was just browsing the HD web site and have a question. What makes the Low rider worth $2000 more then all the rest? All I can see is the different in the gauges, cast rims and a black motor. What am I missing.

There are some more subtle differences besides the obvious tach and black powder coat motor. I felt the same way though - where is the 2 grand at? So I bought the custom.
Only other things I noticed were the included highway pegs, lower shocks, and rear fender.
I love chrome so I went with the FXDC. The Super Glide was the first Harley I fell in love with 30 years ago, so the choice was easy for me.
I didn't think there was anything different on the rear fender. I agree with what's been posted though, shocks, tach, hi-way pegs & black engine. The seat is different too isn't it? Still can't find $2k worth though.
Its because the ladys dig them. They are extremely popular with women due to their seat to ground distance. This is mitigated some in the last 3-4 years due to the street bob having about the same stance. But used low riders still sell quick, because the ladies can ride them. Its what my used powerbroker recomends for the ladies.
And I agree.... Us "Ladies" love the Low Rider. I woudn't trade mine for anything.
When you go into a dealer, you hardly ever see a Low Rider on the floor. But you're right, the LR is 2 grand more even though the Custom's fuel tank is a tad larger. The seat height and ground clearance are lower on the Low Rider, and that's why us "shorter women" tend to like them. I think it's because it has a lower center of gravity which makes for easier handling. But why it's 2 grand more??? for the same reason the cleaners charge more for womens blouses than men's shirts. BECAUSE THEY CAN!!!
