Default Which Tires for Twisties???

What about the choices of Radials vs. Bias ply Tires. There aren't alot of Radials, just wondering who uses them and likes or dislikes.

Default Radials

I've recently started a couple of threads about radials without much response,i was sort of surprised when I realised my 07 Dyna used bias.I was using Radials on Bikes in the early 70's
I thought Bias had stopped being used decades ago.

As per my previous post; I'm running radials, with tubes. Excellent grip, wear is only fair. Front tire will scallop from aggressive braking before the tread wears out. Will see how they last "solo" this year as the wife bought her own bike.....

There have been a number of recent threads re: Dyna suspension and handling tips. My question is "What tires do you guys use?" Although high mileage, rain performance, etc, are nice, which tires perform best in the turns? I currently have ME880s.

thx

Any pics of the suspension on the bike?

I can only offer input on Dunlops and Metz 880's on a Dyna, the 880's are far superior to the stock dunlops. I've had Avons and other tires on other bikes, but I don't think that input is valid here.

Here'a a couple of the Ohlins. The shocks are .6" longer than stock (13.2), which, because of the location, raises the bike over an inch. They adjustable to another .4 " longer. Certainly not the slammed look, but on my bike it significantly improved the turn in and ground clearance. Also more leg room (although I am only 5'9" the stock configuration was a little cramped for me).

how did you get more leg room. the seat is attached to the frame which still is the same distance to the pegs, right? (just wondering if I am missing something)
On the tires, are you outriding the 880's? Do they feel like the weak link in your cornering?

My bad re: the seat to pegs. I think the difference is that I used to scrunch up in the turns knowing something would drag, now I don't have that isse (best save I can think of).

Re the ME 880s, no, I don't think they are the wink line at this point. I have not yet tuned the shocks...will do that this week with the help of a buddy who is expert at it. I ride a 60 mile stretchof twistes (Angeles Crest) from my place in north LA to Wrightwood (small ski town, 6,000 ' elevation) 2-3 times a week for 4 years (I am retired). I now fine myself on the Dyna taking the turns 5-10 mph faster. Not racing by any stretch, just spirited riding thru the turns.

Even with the new ride height I doubt I could lean enough to really slide the bike. Can't really imagine dragging a knee on this bike on the streets

All that said, I would still want to know if there was a better tire.

Screaming Eagle Dunlop 502s, they're made for these bikes rim sizes and plenty sticky, get the 180 rear while you're at it. I run out of clearance long before I run out of traction. I've yet to hear of anyone using these tires that doesn't like them.
