What is the purpose of lifting the tank?

I ordered mine strictly for looks however I have heard some say that it helps draw air over the boxes for a cooling effect. Dunno if the lift has a noticible cooling impact or not to be honest, but seems logical to me.

dyna's seem to look better with the tank lift,
harley should have done this at the factory.

If it came from EBay they nbreak at the mount to the frame!!!!!!!!!!!!!Needs a triangle piese welded to the inside edge from the top of the inverted u (frame) TO THE 2 IN FLAT STEEL PIESE WELDED TO THE UPRIGHT U(TANK).SCARY CRAP WHEN TANK JUMPS UP IN FRONT.been there IT DONE THIS!!!
