Default where to cut the wire?

just got 09 fatbob, 1 week... am looking to relocate turn signals... was easy on the sporty, all wires were outside of handlebars... fatbob has nice, clean look with wires inside... i understand i may have to cut and solder some, but where is the best place to cut... so that it dont mess up the neat tidy look? wire comes out of bottom of switch housing, is free for 2-3 inches then goes into lamp... if i cut here, do i pull wire back thru handlebar... this may be problem if all wire are inside a sleeve inside the bars... i could put a small slice in sleeve at the triple trees and maybe cut lamp wires there, but then i may still have to pull wires thru bars, with same complications... unless i just cut out segment that is in bars and splice in a new piece that runs to the lamps... ive looked thru threads, havent seen any that really tells the best way to achieve a nice clean look... thanx

yes... ive seen something about the connecters, cant find the post right now but will keep looking, if i remember right the connecters were under the tank? or in the lamps? or are there others that are closer? seems im missing a piece of the puzzle somewhere... either way, i would somehow have to get the lamp wires out of the handlebars, hopefully without taking everything apart or pulling the whole wire bundle, but will do that if i have to...

ok, if i get the wires loose from the turn signal housing, is just a matter of pulling those wires thru the bars?.. this may be a problem in that the turn signal wires seem to be all bundled up with the rest of the wires when they go into the bottom of the bars... do i disconnect all the wires from the switch housing and pull the whole bundle or will the lamp wires slip by all that... thing is ive read hours and hours of turn signal stuff and none of it mentioned opening up the wire bundle or cutting into the sleeve or disconnecting the switch housing wires... at what point do i seperate the turn signal wires from the rest of the harness? i get the big picture, its the little details that have me confused...

The connectors for the turn signals are in the backbone under the tank. Not sure about the fat bob, but the rest of the dynas have a "D" shaped rubber grommet on each side of the neck. Those come off pretty easy. To gain good access to the turn signal connectors, remove the bolts that mount the tank, and slide it back a few inches.... as much as the cross over line will let you. Again not sure about FB but under the backbone and just above the front rocker cover is a plastic shield that has two lock tabs on either side of the backbone. Depress the lock tabs and that shield pops down out of the backbone, giving you access to the wiring bundle up there. Locate the turn signal connectors, and using a small jewelers screwdriver inserted into the face of the connecter, in the opening with small rounded section, fiddle (technical word there ) with it till the terminal and wire can be removed from the connector housing. Fiddle, being something like inserting and then pressing the flat blade against the outside of the housing.

That should allow you to pull the wires out.... but probably will have to pull section by section.. like pull out of neck first, then pull them up through the trees, and then out through the handle bars.

I believe the turn signal connectors are the Amp Multi-lock.
