Rented the same bike for a couple of days on St Martin; lots of twisty roads; it was great. Got home and began the search for a good used one (they were discontinued the year before...) and 6 months later found one nearly 1000 miles away in the middle of winter. When my buddy and I arrived by pickup truck at the sellers place, we walked into his shop and after one look around at how obviously **** he was about cleanliness and order I said "I'll take it". He still had a flannel bike cover on it...imagine my surprise when he removed the cover and it was the same color as the one I had rented! Have had many miles and many smiles since.
Test rode a Street Bob and a Fat Bob back to back.
After getting off the Street Bob and on the Fat Bob I knew in about a minute that it was the bike for me, it was more comfortable and seemed to handle more to my liking than the Street Bob.
Tried to buy that one, a black pearl, on the spot but the dealer (HD of Charlotte) would not give me a decent deal and I walked away.
Took a few months later and a different dealer (Tilley's in Statesville) to get a deal I could live with but by that time all the 08 black pearls were gone.
Tilley's gave me a decent deal on the blue pearl and the rest is history.
I ordered mine from the factory, in the winter, so was unable to test ride it. If I had, though, it just would have made it that much harder to wait for spring!
I test rode mine just for ****s n grins, to see what a street bob was like, and ended up trading my other bike in, right then and there, because I had to have it.
