Default Help - Saddlebag Supports

I have an 07 Lowrider (FXDL). Had the dealer put on the detachable backrest and he had to do a "tail-light relocation kit". This year I went out and bought some throwover bags for long rides. I went to the local dealer to get those supports that will stop any possibility of the bags hitting the wheels and they said that HD does not make them for the 07, with the relocation kit. Went to 2 other dealers and both said the same thing. They have them for up to the 06. Tried JP Cycles book and they only go to 06. All 3 dealers said to find an "aftermarket" dealer and they may have a pair.

So, I cant be the only person in this world with an 07 FXDL wanting to put on "throwover bags". Any ideas as to where I find those brackets?

I'd try a set for the '06. The fenders for 06 through 09 mount up the same, there's no reason the bag hangers should be any different.

Soft or hard bags? Have u tried throwing the bags on to check for possible contact issues? I have a set of medium sized throw overs withno brackets that I use all the time with no problems. If it really concerns you, try to find a way to tie them off to the shock coils with a piece of leather string or zip ties. It kinda defeats the purpose of having throw overs if ur gonna put brackets on imo.

Thank you to firefighter and BigVTwin for your suggestions. I just might try the 06 part and return it if it doesn't meet my needs.
BigVTwin - They are medium soft bags (like pony express bags). I tried to tie them to the shock coil but a friend of mine that had been riding for years cautioned me about the possibility of them still getting in the wheels. I was going to use them when I go to our summer place in Maine (about 100 miles away) and I average 70-75 on the highway. I think it would really hurt if the bag(s) got into the wheels while riding. If I could find the supports and dont mind what it looks like - I just may leave the bags on there fulltime.

I ran into the dame problem... they may have ment that there was none that would fit with the quick-relase backrest...
I ran into the same problem, but with longer bolts I was able to have both on my bike. Although they stick out alittle father then I would like.

I ride with my Fox Creek throw overs tied down with zip locks and never had a problem. Traveled about 1000 miles in three days like this with no problem. I have the same set up as you do. Tied off at the lower shock bolt and at the rear turn signals. Carried extra zips if I needed to remove the bags. Otherwise you need to remove the detachable sissy bar and move the turn signals back to the rear brake light. Just trying to save you some time.

if anything, the wind is gonna blow the bags out, not in, and if they're packed pretty full they kinda support themselves. If I was gonna put brackets on I'd just go with a nice set of hard bags. My favorite thing about the throw overs is on and back off in a minute flat and no trace of saddle bags when they're off for local cruising. I'm actually trying to find a solution for summer riding when all I really need is a sweatshirt and clears.

Won't the 06 fit? They didn't have the 06 ones when I got mine so I made my own. I used the middle bolt for the attachment point with angle iron and drilled a 1" + hole in it. There is a spacer between the fender and the chrome. Mine goes over the spacer. I bent 3/8" (or 1/2") round bar and welded it to the angle iron. I spray painted them black. They look factory and are plenty strong.
