Default tach wire at ECM on 07 FXDB

I went to install my tach today, and i noticed that the ECM already has a wire in place at pin 3. Pin 3 is the correct location for the tach, so why is a wire there already? Its looks like a brown wire at pin 3. I expected it to be blank and i would install the pin and wire provided with the tach.

Pin 3 was empty on my 08

Just to be sure you are looking on the plug that comes off? The ECM will have a wire connected.

Also it does seem some models not sure of years have a tach plug hooked up and that maybe why plug 3 has a wire. Look under the tank for a plug.

Yes its the plug that comes off.....i seperated it to install the signal wire.....or tried to install at least. Its wierd because it looks as if there is a wire at every position. The wiring diagram has no wires in a few positions. I'm still looking into it, but it doesn't look like the wire colors are matching up to the wiring diagram either.

the manual has that there should be 5 unused spots and 1 for the tach, but my harness hsa no open spots. the manual has pin one as a v/be colored wire, 2 nothing unused, and 3 no wire and its for the tach. My harness has a tan wire at pin 1, a pink wire at pin 2 and a brownn wire at pin 3. I'm looking at the Packard 100W connector to the ECM, thats correct right?

That looks like the connector i'm looking at, except mine has no empty spots. I was able to talk to a service guy at the local dealer and he said i should connect the signal wire to pin 3 of the speedometer connector. Does that sound right to anyone? He didn't sound 100% certain to me, so i want to be sure before i go and hook anything up.

The directions on my tach did show hooking it up at the speedo plug for some models but I dont recall that being on any Dyna models.

This sucks!! I called another dealer to double check, and they told me they're not sure if i can even use the tach. I need to find 07 Streetbob owners that have tachs installed. What tach's did you use (part #'s if you have them), how were you supposed to hook up the tach, and how did you hook them up?
